Dicentra 'King of Hearts'

Well known bleeding hearts!

‘King of Hearts’ has a compact foliage mound and wide fern-like, bluish-green leaves that persists throughout the growing season. Nodding, heart-shaped, rich carmine-rose flowers dance above the foliage on long stems. Flowering may continue throughout the summer in cool northern climates.

Blooms from June till September(!).

Size:
30-40 cm tall by 25 cm wide.

Location:
Partial shade to shade.
Hardiness zone 5-8.

Culture:
Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in part shade. Prefers consistently moist, rich, humusy soils. Soils must not be allowed to dry out during summer. Intolerant of wet soils in winter. Promptly remove spent flowering stems to promote additional bloom. This is a sterile hybrid that must be propagated vegetatively.
